2024 Changes and Updates

As we enter the new year, thoughts around income taxes start to creep into our minds! Given our success last year, we have decided to again offer a pop-up location in Lacombe for our in person tax filing, but will also still offer our secure online filing option.  The following are the current options available for filing your 2023 income tax returns

ONLINE

This year we will be continuing to focus on online tax returns. The pandemic and resulting transition from working in an office environment to home offices has significantly increased the amount of work that can now be done online with a computer, laptop, or cell phone. If you choose to have your income tax return prepared online we will send you an invitation to a secure email portal, if you haven't already subscribed. You will use your existing login in credentials or create your own user ID and password and upload your income tax documents for us to use for income tax preparation. Once the return is complete we will upload your tax return into the secure portal for your review. When you are satisfied that the return is correct you will sign and upload the form that authorizes us to efile your income tax return to CRA and we submit on your behalf. You can choose to print or save an electronic copy of your income tax return for your records, or leave the document in your secure portal for the period of one year. As our total portal space is limited, we have to delete income tax returns and supporting documents annually to free up space for current year returns.

IN PERSON

For the duration of the tax filing season (dates and times to be determined) we will have a temporary office set up in the meeting room of the Greenway Inn Travelodge at 5402 Hwy 2 Lacombe on Friday’s and Saturday’s only. Hours have yet to be determined but we encourage you to phone us to schedule an appointment as our availability is limited.  As in previous years, if you are a returning clients and there are no items to discuss or no changes to your tax situation, please take advantage of our quick drop option noted below.

QUICK DROP OFF

The quick drop off option we offered last year will be available for those that wish to simply drop off their tax documents and schedule a meeting for pick up the following week. Please be prepared to provide us with any updates regarding your address, contact numbers, email, marital status, children born. We would also ask that you confirm any RSP contributions that you have done up to and including March 1, 2024 as they must be reported on your 2023 income tax return even if you choose not to claim the contribution until 2024.
